How they work

Sleek sashes that glide on a horizontal track.

A horizontal roller operates the same way an impact sliding glass door does, scaled down. Two or three sashes mounted on a horizontal track — one or more panels slide sideways to open. The fixed panel stays in place.

  • Wide openings — 60″ to 144″ wide
  • Low sash silhouette
  • Full-width screening
  • Above-counter friendly

Configurations

Two layouts. Sized to the opening.

Pick the layout that matches how the opening is used. 2-lite is the simpler, less expensive choice for narrow openings. 3-lite handles wider spans with a sliding center panel and two fixed ends.

O X
2-Lite OX / XO

One fixed, one sliding

The simpler, less expensive configuration. The sliding panel opens left or right against a fixed panel. Common above kitchen sinks, in bathrooms, and over bathtubs.

  • Best for narrower openings
  • Fewer moving parts, lower cost
  • Max width up to 74 1/8″
O X O
3-Lite XOX

Two fixed ends, sliding center

The standard for wider Florida openings. A center sliding panel between two fixed ends — operates the full width of the opening without sacrificing structural integrity.

  • Built for wider spans
  • Equal or unequal lites available
  • Max width up to 144″ (XOX4)

Note: 3-lite sliders cost more than 2-lite single-hungs of similar opening size due to additional moving parts. We help you pick the right configuration during the estimate.

Why horizontal roller

Three reasons it beats single-hung on the right opening.

Sliding windows aren't just an alternative to single-hungs — they're the right answer when the opening's geometry, position, or ventilation requirements call for horizontal operation.

Geometry

When the opening is wider than tall, a horizontal slider operates the full width. A single-hung would have to be much shorter than the opening to look proportional.

Lower sash silhouette

Slider sashes have lower silhouettes than stacked single-hungs. Better above counters and bathtubs — no thick top rail blocking the view.

Full-width screening

Slider screens run the full operable opening, while single-hung screens only cover the bottom half. Better airflow for kitchens and bathrooms.

Versatile engineering & code compliance

Built to a single Florida specification — fit for any property type.

Horizontal rollers engineered for high-velocity hurricane zones with a structurally reinforced heavy-duty profile. Code-compliant for residential, commercial, and multi-family applications — and certified for emergency egress when specified with the right track and size layout.

  • FBC compliant

Florida Product Approved

Engineered to satisfy strict Florida Product Approval protocols, these windows are fully certified to defend properties against high-velocity hurricane zones and destructive projectile impacts.

Multi-purpose application

Formulated with a structurally reinforced heavy-duty profile that makes them an excellent fit for residential, commercial, and multi-family construction. One spec, three building categories.

Egress capabilities

Designed with emergency escape code compliance in mind, these units meet legal egress dimensions when specified with the appropriate track and size layouts.

Core performance & size specifications

Three performance tiers. One unified Florida certification.

Every tier is rated, tested, and approved for Florida hurricane exposure. The right one for your project depends on opening width, wind zone, and architectural intent. We spec it during the estimate.

Sliding FAQ

Common questions.

What is a sliding impact window?

A horizontal-roller window with two or three sashes that slide sideways on tracks. Common for openings wider than they are tall.

When should I pick a sliding window over a single-hung?

When the opening is wider than it is tall. Single-hung is better when the opening is taller than wide.

Are sliding windows as secure as single-hungs?

Yes, when certified. Impact sliders use the same laminated glass and multi-point locking as any other impact window. Same Miami-Dade certification.
