How coverage works

Two layers. Both yours, the day you sign.

Most installers offer one or the other. We give you both, stacked, with one phone number to call if anything goes sideways.

Factory warranty

From American-made impact windows and doors

The brand that built your windows and doors stands behind the product. Coverage includes:

  • Laminate / impact glass — typically lifetime limited
  • Frame — 10 to 20 years
  • Hardware (locks, rollers, hinges) — 5 to 10 years
  • Finish / paint — 1 to 2 years
  • Insulating glass seal — 10 to 20 years

Exact terms vary by brand. We hand you the full warranty packet at contract signing — no fine print buried in the back of the manual.

GlassIQ installation warranty

10 years from install date

The factory covers the product. We cover the workmanship — everything we touched on install day. Coverage includes:

  • Anchoring to the structure per NOA spec
  • Flashing behind the unit
  • Perimeter sealing (caulk, sealant, weatherstrip)
  • Finish trim inside and outside
  • Inspection coordination with your county

If a leak shows up in year three, or a sash sticks because the frame moved, that's on us. One phone call, no manufacturer ping-pong.

In writing, day one

What you receive at contract signing.

Every GlassIQ install includes a warranty packet handed to you on the day of contract. The packet contains:

  • The full manufacturer warranty document for every product line installed (the American-made impact line) — original, not a summary
  • The GlassIQ installation warranty certificate, signed by both parties, with a 10-year coverage period from your install date
  • The Miami-Dade NOA documentation for every product, which your insurance carrier needs for the wind-mitigation credit
  • The Florida product approval sheets
  • A copy of the building permit and the signed inspection report from your county
  • Care and maintenance instructions for each product

Keep the packet in a safe place. If you sell the home, the next owner inherits most of the coverage — we'll help with the warranty transfer documentation at closing.

Honest exclusions

What the warranty does not cover.

We don't bury exclusions in fine print. Here are the most common reasons a claim isn't covered:

  • Events beyond the product's tested rating. Every impact window passes a specific large-missile test (e.g., a 9 lb 2x4 at 50 ft/s). Debris larger or faster than that — direct strike from a Cat-5 hurricane projectile beyond test parameters — falls outside coverage.
  • Modifications that void the NOA. Removing a fastener, drilling into the frame, re-glazing the unit yourself, or any post-install change that compromises the manufacturer's certification.
  • Damage from third parties. A contractor working on your home who damages the window. A child throwing a baseball. Vandalism. These are usually homeowner-insurance claims, not warranty claims — though sometimes home insurance covers them.
  • Lack of maintenance. Hardware (locks, rollers) needs occasional cleaning and lubrication per manufacturer instructions. Hardware failure from years of corrosion in a never-cleaned slider track isn't a warranty defect.
  • Cosmetic wear within reason. Tiny scratches in glass from cleaning, normal weathering of exterior trim paint, slight color variations between batches.

If you're unsure whether something is covered, call us. We diagnose it in person, tell you the truth, and if it's our installation issue we fix it. If it's homeowner insurance territory, we'll point you in the right direction.

Warranty FAQ

Common questions about coverage.

Call 941 310 7028 for anything not covered here.

What does the GlassIQ warranty cover?

Two warranties cover every install. The factory warranty from the manufacturer covers the product itself — glass, laminate, frame, hardware, and finish. GlassIQ's installation warranty covers the workmanship — anchoring, flashing, sealing, and finish trim. Both are issued in writing on the day you sign the contract.

How long is the factory warranty?

Coverage length varies by manufacturer. Most lines we install carry lifetime limited warranties on the laminate (glass interlayer), 10–20 years on the frame, 5–10 years on hardware, and 1–2 years on the finish. The exact terms are listed in the warranty packet you receive at contract signing.

How long is the GlassIQ installation warranty?

Our installation warranty covers the workmanship for 10 years from the install date — anchoring, flashing, perimeter sealing, and finish trim. If anything we installed fails because of how we installed it, we fix it at no cost. Period.

What is NOT covered by the warranty?

Acts of nature exceeding the product's tested rating, accidental damage caused by third parties or homeowner modifications, normal wear on hardware that hasn't been maintained, and any modifications to the assembly that void the NOA. Specific exclusions are listed in each manufacturer's warranty document.

How do I file a warranty claim?

Call us first at 941 310 7028. We'll diagnose the issue, determine whether it falls under factory or installation coverage, and handle the manufacturer correspondence on your behalf. You don't need to track down warranty paperwork — we keep a copy of every install record on file.

Does the warranty transfer if I sell my home?

Most factory warranties are transferable to a one-time second owner — the new homeowner inherits the remaining coverage period. Our installation warranty also transfers under the same terms. We'll provide the warranty transfer documentation as part of your closing packet for resale.
