In-house vs subcontracted

Why we don't subcontract install work.

Most window installers in Florida subcontract the labor. You buy from Company A, but Company B — often a third party Company A has never worked with — shows up on install day. When something goes wrong, you spend weeks chasing paperwork between the two.

We built GlassIQ to not be that. Every install crew is on our payroll, trained on our complete product catalog, and accountable to the same project advisor who quoted you.

Install day, in detail

What to actually expect when the truck pulls up.

Arrival and setup (8 AM – 9 AM). Crew of 3–5 depending on project size. We lay tarps and floor protection from the entry to the work area. Vehicles parked on the driveway, not the street.

Workflow. One opening at a time. Plastic isolation between the work area and the rest of the house — the kitchen stays the kitchen, the kid's room stays a kid's room. We let you know which room is next so you can move pets, plants, electronics, and breakables.

Removal. Old window comes out cleanly. For stucco openings, we score and remove without cracking neighboring stucco. For drywall, we cut clean lines. Old units are stacked outside and hauled away — you don't dispose of anything.

Install. New unit is dry-fitted, leveled, anchored per the NOA fastener spec, flashed behind, sealed at the perimeter with manufacturer-approved sealant, and trimmed. Each opening typically takes 90 minutes to 3 hours depending on size.

Cleanup (end of day). We vacuum the work area, remove tarps, haul out all debris, and walk you through what was installed. Anything that needs paint-touch-up or stucco-patch finishing is scheduled for the following day. You sleep in a clean house.

Installation FAQ

Common install-day questions.

Call 941 310 7028 with anything else.

Does GlassIQ use subcontractors?

No. Every install is performed by GlassIQ's in-house crew. The same team that quoted you will be on the truck on install day. Subcontracting is the most common source of installation issues and warranty disputes — we eliminated it on day one.

How long does an installation take?

Install day itself is 1–3 days depending on window count. A standard 12–18 opening retrofit is usually 2 days, with cleanup and inspection on the second afternoon. Manufacturing is the longer phase — 6–10 weeks from order to delivery, then we install within a week of delivery.

Can I stay in my home during installation?

Yes. We work one room at a time, prep the openings with protective plastic, and contain dust to the work area. The house stays livable. Most clients work from home or run errands during the install.

Do you handle the permits?

Yes. We file the building permit with Sarasota County, Manatee County, Charlotte County, or your local jurisdiction. The permit fee is included in your quote. After install, we coordinate the county inspection and provide you with the signed inspection report.

What happens if it rains on install day?

Light rain doesn't stop us — we protect openings with weatherproof temporary covering during the swap. Severe weather postpones to the next day. We monitor the forecast and call you the morning of if we need to reschedule.

Will the install damage my walls or trim?

We use measure-twice cutting, score-and-snap removal techniques for stucco, and clean break methods for drywall. Minor cosmetic patching is included if needed. If the existing window has settled significantly, we may need to widen the opening — we tell you in advance and handle the patch with matching material and finish.
