Orlando reality

When Orlando makes sense for us.

We're honest about what works and what doesn't:

  • What works: Whole-home retrofit projects of 10+ openings, custom architectural projects in Winter Park or Windermere, multi-property developer work, or referrals from Sarasota clients with second homes in Orlando.
  • What doesn't: Single-window replacements, small two-three opening jobs, emergency service calls under one business day. These don't pencil out with a 2-hour drive, and a local Orlando installer will serve you better.

For larger Orlando projects, we bring the same product catalog, the same install warranty (10 years), and the same end-to-end service we offer on Sarasota projects. The trade-off is scheduling flexibility — we plan Orlando trips weeks in advance rather than slotting them into the daily route.

Orlando-specific considerations

Inland Florida changes a few things.

Orlando is inland — no direct Gulf or Atlantic exposure. That changes what's optimal for impact-window spec:

  • Outside HVHZ. Orlando is not in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone, so wind-load requirements are slightly less stringent than coastal Florida. Less premium-frame-required pressure on the spec.
  • Less salt air. Vinyl frames and standard hardware work well inland Orlando. Most coastal recommendations (premium stainless steel hardware, aluminum-required configurations) don't apply.
  • Smaller wind-mitigation insurance benefit. The wind portion of an Orlando insurance policy is typically a smaller share of the total premium than in Sarasota or Naples. The credit still applies, but the dollar value is smaller.
  • Comparable energy savings. AC reduction from Low-E impact glass is similar to coastal markets. Central Florida summer heat is intense; energy-efficient impact windows pay back through the utility bill.
  • Hurricane reach. Inland Orlando still gets significant wind from passing hurricanes (Ian 2022, Charley 2004 — both reached Orlando with sustained damage). Impact windows still serve their purpose, just with statistically lower direct-debris exposure than coastal Florida.

Local alternative

When a local Orlando installer is the better call.

We'd rather tell you the truth than land an unprofitable project. If any of these apply to your Orlando situation, a local Orlando installer is probably the better fit:

  • You need a single door or 2–3 windows replaced
  • You want install scheduled within 2 weeks of contract
  • You want warranty service response inside 24–48 hours
  • You're price-shopping aggressively (our travel cost is real even though we don't surcharge — we'd rather not stretch on margin)

If your Orlando project is bigger — full-home retrofit, custom architectural work, multi-property — we'd love to come up and quote. Use the form to request and we'll let you know quickly whether it's a fit.

Orlando FAQ

Orlando-specific questions.

Do you install impact windows in Orlando?

Yes, on a project basis. About 2 hours northeast of our Sarasota showroom. We accept Orlando-area projects when they're large enough to justify the install trip.

Do Orlando homes need impact windows?

FBC requires impact-rated or shutter-protected openings on new construction statewide. Existing Orlando homes are grandfathered. Most upgrades happen for insurance, energy, and resale-value reasons.

Are Orlando insurance benefits the same as coastal Florida?

Smaller. The wind-mitigation credit applies statewide, but the wind portion of an Orlando policy is a smaller share of the total premium than coastal. Energy savings are comparable.

What's the minimum Orlando project size you accept?

10–12 openings (typical full-home retrofit). Smaller jobs don't pencil out with a 2-hour drive. For smaller Orlando work, a local Orlando installer is the better fit.
